GRIPSMANIA on tour: WRWR – weltweiter Damen-Motorrad-Stafettenlauf

WRWR ist ein internationaler Frauen-Motorrad-Staffetenlauf, der weltweit motorradfahrende Frauen miteinander vernetzen soll.
WRWR is an international woman-motorcycle-relay, which connects motorcycle-driving-woman all over the world.

 

GRIPSAREA war als Guardian in Österreich 3 Tage live dabei!

 

WRWR wurde von Hayley Bell im August 2018 gegründet und hat bereits über 17.000 weltweite vernetzte Damen, die sich gegenseitig unterstützen. Ziel ist es die Motorradindustrie auf die wachsende Zielgruppe der Frauen aufmerksam zu machen. In den bisherigen Ländern Europas sind es bereits über 500 registrierte weibliche Guardians, die den handgeschnitzten Staffelstab über die ersten Etappen führen.
WRWR started by Hayley Bell in August 2018. Since foundation, there are more than 17.000 members who help each other. The target is to get attention from the industry to the growing audience of biker-woman. In Europe there are more than 500 female guardians who pay tribute to the handmade relay baton.

 

Allein in Österreich waren es 9 Guardians und weitere 15 Begleiterinnen, welche die erste Fahrerin durch Österreich begleitet haben.

Women Riders World Relay (WRWR) startete am 27. Februar 2019 in Schottland mit Colette.
The Women Riders World Relay (WRWR) started in Scotland on 27th of February in 2019 with 5 riders , headed up by Hayley and Colette was lucky to be one of them

 

Colette Tindall Edeling ist in England geboren, in Südamerika und Südafrika aufgewachsen und arbeitete in den letzten 10 Jahren in Australien. Sie hat von dieser Staffel gehört und hat für sich beschlossen, diese Staffel nachzufahren. Sie hat ihr altes Leben aufgegeben, ein Motorrad gekauft und sich auf die Reise gemacht. Sie wurde sofort in die Staffel aufgenommen und hat somit auch gleich den weltweiten Support von motorradfahrenden Damen erhalten.
Colette Tindall Edeling was born in England lived in South Africa for 40 yrs before moving to Australia 10 years ago. She heard about the relay and decided to ride as many legs of the relay , which will take her around the world.The relay will take 343 days and will cover an estimated 80 000 kms. She got the support from WRWR and Haley Bell immediately, so she quit her job, bought a motorcycle on the internet in the Uk and flew to Scotland to start the relay.

 

 

In Österreich starteten wir bei -3,5 Grad in Weigetschlag beim Grenzübergang

Organisiert und geplant, sowie angeführt wurde die Staffel von Chris (sie ist eine Administratorin von WIMA Austria). Griparea war als Guardian und „persönlicher Bodyguard“ von Colette mit dabei!
Chris was the ambassador for Austria and she planned the trip throw Austria. She is the administrator of WIMA Austria. „As Colette was from Australia, Petra from the GripArea saw her job as guardian to be the personal bodyguard for Colette and did a great  job of ensuring the Aussie chick did not get lost and felt at home“ (Colettte)

 

 

Beim Grenzübergang Weigetschlag haben wir Colette von den Tschechinnen offiziell übernommen. Gefeiert wurde jedoch schon am Vorabend in Rozmberk 🙂
Although we had dinner with Colette and the czech girls in Rozmberk, we officially welcomed Colette in Weigetschlag when the Austrian relay started.

 

 

Von Weigetschlag fuhren wir über Aschach und Ried im Inkreis zum KTM Werk in Mattighofen.
Day One 1st stage: Weigetschlag – Aschach – Ried im Inkreis – KTM in Mattighofen.

 

Bei KTM bekamen wir nicht nur eine Werksführung, sondern wurden auch kulinarisch verwöhnt!
KTM gave us a guide of factory and treated us to a great lunch at their new cafe called the Garage.

 

 

Unsere Reise führte uns weiter über den Mattsee und Obertrumer See, vorbei an der Burg Werfen nach Bischofshofen.
Day One 2nd stage: Weigetschlag – Mattsee – Obertrumer See – Burg Werfen – Bischofshofen.

 

Dort erwartete uns das nächste Highlight – unser Überraschungsgast Anita Fastl – Grizzly Race Team Austria. Sie erzählte uns von ihrer Weltrekordreise in 19 Tagen um die Welt.
In Bischofshofen we had one more highlight – Anita Fastl from the Grizzly Race Team Austria. She told us the story about her world record trip around the world.

 

 

Anita begleitete uns auch noch weiter auf den Hochkönig bis Zell am See. Colette und die restlichen Damen freuten sich sehr und waren natürlich über die Begleitung sehr stolz! Über St. Anton sind wir dann in Vorarlberg (Nüziders) eingefahren.
Anita also joined us by motorbycicle till Zell am See. We were very proud to have Anita partaking in he relay. We finished day 2 in Vorarlberg (Nüziders)

 

 

Am nächsten Tag haben wir Colette in Lichtenstein an der Grenze offiziell übergeben. Wir begleiteten sie jedoch noch bis nach Vaduz, wo sie von den Schweizerinnen übernommen wurde.
We met the guardians from Lichtenstein at the border and handed over the baton and Colette. The Austrian team the rode with the Luxembourg team to Vaduz, where the girls met the Swiss team and said our final goodbyes to the Baton and Colette!

 

 

Resümee:

Es war eine sehr gut organisierte und durchgeführte Veranstaltung mit vielen unkomplizierten Motorradfahrerinnen, die ausgezeichnet grenzübergreifend zusammengearbeitet haben.

Unsere persönlichen Erlebnisse und das Feedback der Mädels: Es war eine tolle und lustige Veranstaltung mit hochmotivierten Bikerinnen. Die Stimmung war super, es gab keine Diskussionen und Streitereien, die Disziplin war hervorragend und die Streckenführung von Chris war sehr gut gewählt.

Colette hat uns unaufgefordert mitgeteilt, dass sie unbedingt mit ihrer Familie zurückkommen muss, um ihr Österreich zu zeigen.

Conclusion:

The relay was a great successacross the 3 countries as the Biker-Ladies worked together as a team in the planning and execution of the relay. One goal – 1 team

Feedback from the Bikerladies: Very great and tremendous performance with high motivated Bikerladies. The routes were fun and all the ladies had a great positive experience riding the WRWR relay!

The discipline was excellent. Thanks to all involved and special thanks to Chris for leading us through the routes.
